Proposed Development at The Metals Green, Dun Laoghaire Harbour  **The closing date for receipt of submissions is Friday, 06th February 2026** Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council is proposing to develop The Metals Green, along Harbour Road, bookended by the Irish Lights building to the west and The Royal Irish Yacht Club to the east. This development of the 0.30 ha green space comprises a shoreside balustrade, a new accessible circulation route, a central, gathering space which can cater for a mobile kiosk, a yoga lawn, a tiered lawn, playful elements and suitable coastal trees and ground cover planting. This is a placemaking project to create an attractive destination, a key stop-off along the coastal mobility route and to assist in the regeneration of Dún Laoghaire Harbour. Cycling access to the park will be encouraged through the provision of bike and cargo-bike parking at the main entrances. Terraced seating along one side of the park will address the existing change in levels while offering generous opportunities for rest and informal gatherings. Sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS) will be integrated to manage rainwater on site in an environmentally sensitive way. A new balustrade and viewing platform are also proposed along the harbour edge, enhancing people’s connection to the waterfront and supporting the area’s role as an important connection to the harbour. Please see the link below to our Citizenspace page which details how submissions can be made: https://dlrcoco.citizenspace.com/parks/themetalsgreen/ The closing date for receipt of submissions is Friday, 06th February 2026.
